Machelle is a Fire Engineer with six years of commercial and four years of academic experience. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Fire Engineering Science from The University of Queensland.

She has extensive technical writing expertise, contributing to peer-reviewed journals and ongoing industry research. Her strong analytical mindset and experience in CFD, zone modelling, and evacuation modelling supports the development of high-quality Fire Safety Engineering Reports and value-focused project outcomes.

Machelle is currently delivering practical and cost-effective performance-based solutions across multiple building projects.

Dr Machelle Kriel is a Fire Engineer with 6 years of commercial experience and 4 years of academic experience. She has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has also completed a Masters in Fire Engineering Science at the University of Queensland. Dr Kriel has extensive technical writing experience having contributed to peer reviewed journals and is currently a co-author for ongoing work contributions in the fire safety industry. Her analytical mindset and research experience position her ideally to construct Fire Safety Engineering Reports and create value for clients, including technical computer modelling of fires using CFD, zone models as well as evacuation modelling programs. Dr Kriel’s expertise is currently focused on providing practical and cost-effective fire-engineered performance-based solutions on multiple building projects to help meet Client objectives.

Jessica Barton – Project Fire Consultant

Jess has six years of commercial experience specialising in the assessment of fire and its impact on structures, life safety, and the environment.

She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil and Fire Safety Engineering from The University of Queensland. Her thesis examined firefighter fatalities in bushfire settings, and she continues to specialise in building construction and life safety in bushfire-prone areas.

Jess’s expertise also includes computational fire dynamics and zone modelling across retail, residential, commercial, industrial, aged care, education, defence, corrective services, and stadia projects. She prioritises practical, cost-effective solutions supported by clear communication and timely delivery.

Jessica graduated from her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil and Fire Safety Engineering in 2020 from The University of Queensland, completing her thesis on the topic of fire-fighter fatalities in bushfire settings. Since this time, Jessica continues to specialise in this field of building construction and life safety in bushfire prone areas. Jess’ expertise also extends beyond this to include computational fire dynamics and zone modelling, having completed works in a wide range of subsectors including as retail, residential, commercial, industrial, aged care, education, defence, corrective services, and stadia. She provides both practical and cost-effective fire-engineered solutions, with a particular focus on effective client-consultant communication, and timeliness.

Fatheen holds a PhD in Structural Fire Engineering specialising in the fire resistance of LSF floor-ceiling systems, and a Bachelor of the Science of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

He has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles in structural fire engineering, demonstrating strong technical capability. His academic expertise is complemented by on-site international experience as a structural engineer, enabling him to deliver solutions that are both practical and constructible.

Fatheen applies his analytical skills and research background to consistently deliver practical and cost-effective performance-based solutions aligned to client objectives.
